孤城铁瓮四山围，绝顶高秋坐落晖。

眼见长江趋大海，青天却似向西飞。

孔尚任（1648-1718），字季重，号云亭山人，山东曲阜人。孔子的后代，清代戏剧家和诗人。
1、北固山：山名，在今江苏镇江东北长江畔。

1、铁瓮：铁瓮城，镇江城别名，言坚固如金城，故名。

2、"青天"句：江水东流，水面反映的天空好象向西飞去。

      Viewing the Grand River on the Northern Mountain

    Mountain-walled town Iron-Urn lonely high in autumn;

    And I sit on its precipice for the sunset, touched on

    The endless river below running far to the eternal east;

    That reflects the blue into a sky flying to the west.
