d. Interrogative adjective (詢問形容詞)
上次我們解釋了this, that, these, those… 等字在某些情況下便不是指示代詞 (Demonstrative pronoun ) 而是指示形容詞 (Demonstrative adjectives)了。同樣，也曾在第二十五課介紹過的一些 詢問代名詞 (Interrogative pronoun)，在某些情況下亦是會被視為詢問形容詞 (Interrogative adjective)。
詢問代名詞包括了：what, which, who, whom, whose… 等字。
以下是在第二十五課介紹過的詢問代名詞例子：
· What is that cat doing?
(中)：那只貓在幹什麽？
· Which was the stolen car?
(中)：哪輛是被偷了的車？
· Who called the police?
(中)：誰叫了警察？
· Whom did Queen Elizabeth marry?
(中)：伊麗莎白女皇許配了誰？
· Whose is this?
(中)：這是誰的？
就用上一課裏同樣的道理，這些字在不同的句子構造下會被視為詢問形容詞 (Interrogative adjectives)，就是在句子裏帶有被這些字形容的名詞的時候。我們用以上的例子作為稍改：
· What mischief is that cat up to? (What 是形容 mischief)
(中)：那只貓在打什麽壞主意？
· Which car was stolen? (Which是形容car)
(中)：哪輛車是被偷了的？
· Whose watch is this? (Whose是形容watch)
(中)：這是誰的手錶？
(你會發現who 和 whom 例外 – 沒有作為詢問形容詞的機會 )
像指示形容詞一樣，詢問形容詞在句子裏一定是緊貼著名詞。
